What’s your excuse?
About Bayou July 10th, 2006Mine is that I’m a gemini.
Why haven’t I posted lately? Gemini Why do I try to tackle a kabillion projects at once? Oh, yes, Gemini Why have I completely abandoned plans to sit in the hammock and drink margaritas? I am such a Gemini…
I don’t read my horoscope very often but after reading Sherri’s post about identifying with her sign, I thought that I should share exactly why being a gemini can be my excuse for damn near anything.
About us:
Ruled as they are by the Planet
The Element associated with Gemini is (hot?) Air. Air Signs are the thinking person’s Signs, and the Twins don’t disappoint. Those born under this Sign prize intellect and consider it the key to all things. At work, they are the clearest of thinkers, looking at a project from all, well, at least two sides and putting forth some logical and well-thought-out ideas (which is the only way to be a designer). It’s also the Gemini’s literary bent which allows them to offer a useful perspective on most any situation. (we do sound like we know what we are talking about, don’t we, precious) The Twins also enjoy bringing their objective reasoning and big-picture ability into their personal relationships. While some may perceive all this logical thought as cold and unemotional, it’s simply how these folks tick. They want to connect, they just do it their own way. (I do what I want) Luckily for Geminis (and their pals), their lightness of spirit and youthful exuberance help them to appear forever young. (Hope that doesn’t mean I’m going to be carded until I’m dead…I already appear to be 12) In keeping with that skip in their step, Geminis enjoy short road trips (and long ones, don’t forget those)– and their agile minds and nimble hands ensure that they “could” change a tire in no time flat. (Quotes are mine, since I “could” change a flat but would prefer to sing songs on the radio until AAA arrives to also jump my battery) Is all of this Twin-energy more than any one person can handle? Ah, maybe that’s why they are two.
The Down Side:
When they are good, they are very attractive; when they are bad they are more the worse for being the (bee)charmers they are. (*Whistling innocently*) Like children they are lively, and happy, if circumstances are right for them, or egocentric, imaginative and restless. (Nope, not me at all.) They take up new activities enthusiastically but lack application, constantly needing new interests, flitting from project to project as apparently purposelessly as a butterfly dancing from flower to flower. (Danche! Danche!) To them life is a game which must always be full of fresh moves and continuous entertainment, free of labor and routine. (If life were perfect it would be free of labor and routine) Changing horses in the middle of the stream is another (way to drown?) small quirk in the Gemini personality which makes decision making, and sticking to a decision, particularly hard for them. (You decide where we are going to eat, I’m too busy trying to get off this damn horse without drowning)
They easily grasp almost everything requiring intelligence and mental dexterity, and are often able to marry manual skills (technical drawings) to their qualities of mind (creative inspiration). Their intellect is strongly analytical and sometimes gives them so great an ability to see both sides of a question that they vacillate and find it hard to make decisions. (”Only a wise ass man can entertain an idea without accepting it”) But their intelligence may very well be used to control and unify the duality of their natures into a most efficient unit. (There should be a manual on the operation of dual personalities) If faced with difficulties, they have little determination to worry at a problem (I certainly am an optomist) until they find a solution (and a problem solver)- they will pick the brains of others (and an eternal student). In their intellectual pursuits, as in other departments of their lives, they risk becoming dilettantes (hey, that’s a local chocolate company), losing themselves in too many projects which they follow until they become difficult. (mmm, chocolate)

I’m a Sagitarius. I know only that I was born in December. Not exactly comprehensive knowledge about my sign
