As an editor, I can only sympathize with the poor sap who had to give it his or her best journalistic effort. Because you know they’re thinking, “I’m SO not putting this in my portfolio!”
I hope, anyway.

Aw now, I would put it in my portfolio just for the humor of it. I mean how many times to you get the chance to write about honeymooners at the Bass Pro Shop?

Sadly enough I have been to a similar wedding (it was in Arkansas as well). My aunt got remarried last year and it was a sight to see. Her clothing was somewhat normal as was the clothing of her bridesmaids, the groom, and the groomsmen. However, what made it so scary was a relative of the groom. He followed them up the aisle wearing red, white, and blue overalls (with no shirt) holding a shotgun. He sat to the side of the alter in a rocking chair, holding the gun throughout the ceremony. While this wedding didn’t conclude with a fish fry, it did conclude with a barbeque and various drunken karaoke performances.
By the way…I was down at Enid again for Thanksgiving (same campground off of Pope Water Valley Road). My aunt and uncle have now bought land down there, so I guess I will be down there more often.

Jennifer! I’m so glad that you commented again because I lost your email when my archives were obliterated.
That is one scary story to tell, but sadly I can’t say that I’m surprised by it.
Will you be at Enid for Christmas? If so, you should come visit. My mom lives about 3 minutes from Pope/WV Road.

I think I am going to be in Memphis for Christmas (unless we get another ice storm). I don’t think we will be making any trips to Enid
We are usually only at Enid for Thanksgiving and for various family functions.
If y’all come down next Thanksgiving we might have to all get together.
I hope you have a safe trip. Are you flying into Memphis? If so be careful with all those horrible Memphis drivers (I can say that cause I *am* one of those horrible Memphis drivers )
I hope y’all have a good visit and a great Christmas!
