I had the joy of receiving an early birthday present this weekend (on the left side of the photo). Isn’t she gorgeous?! Oh, and the scenery isn’t too bad either.

noneSorry that I have been MIA for some time now but it has been a busy few weeks for us. The good news is that I’m the proud new owner of an iPhone so it’s likely that I’ll be able to write more frequently. This is my first test post, welcome to the future!! Oh how I love technology.
I feel like I have written several dozen posts in my head during the last week but time has not been on my side. Every November sneaks up on me, which at work means time for our annual food show that serves as a reminder of all the job titles I have. I feel a bit robbed that I haven’t had an opportunity to really process, much less write about, the election results.
Not to mention some cool articles that I’ve bumped into during my five minute mental smoke breaks. Which also brings to mind my process of quitting the other habit of sucking in toxins. That’s another post that turned into a small novel with no ending chapter. Yeah, I’m feeling rather scattered. Since I don’t have the energy for anything too deep tonight (especially after splitting a split with myself) I’m just going to wade in the mental muddy water…
I had to revel in the irony after reading that Isaiah Washington slammed Grey’s Anatomy for the recent questionable firing of Brooke Smith. Then his ego stepped back into the interview when asked for the solution to fix the show. “Bring Burke back!”
Changing the channel…
Engineers at the University of Washington have developed contact lenses with integrated circuitry. This achievement could lay the groundwork for the “bionic eye.” Researchers hope that the lenses, once completed, will allow users to zoom in on distant objects and see useful facts. Future applications might allow drivers and pilots to see their direction and speed projected across their view or to surf the Web without a monitor.
Check out the wicked cool photos of the gadget eye.

WOAH, talk about a headline that you can’t resist clicking… Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron paint a transsexual lesbian love story.

Damn, the macbook is nearly out of power and I’m too tired to move over aaaall the way to the other side of the couch to plug it up. Oh well, that’s enough dirt to wade through for now. Good’nite.
I don’t think you have to agree with my political stance to admit that I’ve got some mad pumpkin carving skills!
There are more pics at flickr and also a slideshow on my new “snapshots” page. Thanks Erica for sharing the link to Yes We Carve!
I can’t help but feel like the world is moving a break neck pace these days and I’m running on fumes, trying to keep up…
Work is wearing me out. I’m the gatekeeper right now on a huge project that has zapped me of all ability to do anything else. It’s interesting that I can get into the “production/management zone” OR the “creative zone” but those two zones in no way overlap. Once I have one side of my brain charged up, I can not seem to reroute.
The economic crisis is wearing me out. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for some time now and it’s difficult to see an end in sight. It’s really disheartening to be an observer on the sidelines while our investments battle it out. Every time the market drops, I think, there went my new couch, new stove and that fancy showerhead for the basement remodel. I know I have got to get out of that mindset and at times, I regret that I’m not blissfully ignorant.
Politics are wearing me out. I wish that this election would be done with already so we can stop talking about how we are going to fix things and actually START fixing some things. I don’t know if I have the energy to watch the last debate tonight. I’ve made up my mind and, like most people, nothing at this point could change it.
My crooked neck syndrome is also wearing me out. My beloved LMT is recovering from a bulging disk herself right now so she can’t see me. I need to go back to PT, back to my chiropractor and perhaps seek out an acupuncturist. I’m afraid, at this point, that any of the above will severely incapacitate me with my muscles being as kinked up as they are right now. Any idea how difficult it is to work on a computer 40 hrs a week when you can’t feel your hand? Just trust me, it’s not pleasant.
So yeah, if you’ve been wondering why it’s so quiet around here lately- I’ve just been busy being worn out.
In case, you’ve never tested it out- launching your coffee cup across your desk is not a good way to start the day.
My boss buzzed me a few minutes ago and when I tried to turn my big ass unruly chair- it hit the handle, sending a river of sugary goodness across my desk and nearly assassinating my G5. Out of pure instinct, I used my arm to keep it from drenching my hardware but in the process I diverted the river right on top of my personal bag which was on the floor below my desk. One of my pantone guides was also a victim in the massacre of milk and cream.
Is it Friday yet?
Occasionally I reach my tolerance limit on working with people that don’t speak my language (Graphicese). Today would be one of those days… Read the rest of this entry »
It was our, now annual, “ladies day out” at work today. I was not feeling the girly shit when I woke up this morning. It was cold and rainy out and the last thing I wanted to think about was make-up or sandals. Despite my reluctant attitude, it turned out to be a nice day. We went to the salon for manicures and pedis, and followed up with a decadent Italian lunch. I had a huge pour of Oregon Cherry Hill Pinot Noir and now I’m really needing a nap.

Poorly photoshopped wine IV ganked from google images.
